What is 5a-hydroxy laxogenin powder?
Laxogenin, known chemically as 5a-hydroxy laxogenin, is a naturally occurring plant based steroidal sapogenin found in Smilax Sieboldii – a plant related to asparagus that is native to China and Japan. Laxogenin is a member of a group of 40 plant-derived compounds, known as brassinosteroids, which have a similar structure to animal steroid hormones. Plant steroids act through a completely different pathway than human steroid hormones. They attach to the cell surface in animals, which sets off a signal inside of the cell and activates a protein, known as AKT1 or protein kinase B, that enhances cellular metabolism and reduces muscle breakdown. Supplementing laxogenin may, therefore, help support muscle building, thermogenesis, enhance physical performance, and support quick recovery from exercise when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program.
